We bought one of those tennis racquet type mosquito swatters and had a really good laugh over the instructions:
-It can kill mosquito which is sucking blood on human bodies but it is harmless to human.
-It consists on a special 3-layer net which can easily catch insect and never leak out.
-When hitting insect, you can easily kill them just by pressing it's switch.
-When the indicator twinkle, it indicate that the batteries run out.
- For more safety, do not press the switch or touch the ourface (?) of net when swatter is in charge.
-Please do not finger the medium net layer. (wtf?)
-The swatter may become without high-voltage or in low-voltage conditions when it absorbe damp in wet weather, the effect will be declined. Then, it can be dried by blowing with electric blower or shining with sunshine. The effect will be recovered soon.
.... and my favourite....
-Children must instruce under adult when use it.
HAHAHAHAHA!!

Farce Book
It seems the old 'we're going to delete inactive users accounts' email hoax has once again hit the social networking site Facebook. A ridiculous message being passed around by the usual bunch of gullible people reads:
Attention all Facebook membeRs.
Facebook is recently becoming very overpopulated, There have been many members complaining that Facebook is becoming very slow.Record shows that the reason is that there are too many non-active Facebook members And on the other side too many new Facebook members. We will be sending this messages around to see if the Members are active or not,If you're active please send to other users using Copy+Paste to show that you are active Those who do not send this message within 2 weeks, The user will be deleted without hesitation to create more space, If Facebook is still overpopulated we kindly ask for donations but until then send this message to all your friends and make sure you send this message to show me that your active and not deleted.

Obviously, this is yet another junk hoax perpetrated to fool millions of people into blindly sending masses of emails to each other and clogging up the net with yet more crap!
Please... Wake Up!

Chimera 2 Trailer
I've decided to commit myself into creating another film project, time permitting of course. So, here's a small teaser trailer for the forthcoming (read 'whenever it's ready') Chimera 2.
Critical Mass
Slightly off the IT related entries, I was just watching the BBC World Newsnight Review showing a special programme on the life and career of Michael Jackson. I've never witnessed such a load of drivel as several unknowns desperately fighting for their 15 minutes of fame with heads so far up their own backsides, spouted out their own totally self-opinionated trash talking about a man they never even personally knew.
Being a professional critic has to be the most pointless job in the world.

The LOST Camera
Yet another rather sick and pointless email circulating at the moment shows photos claimed to be taken from a retrieved memory stick moments before the recent Air France crash.
Mass mail forwarding is a headache at the best of times, but this subject is quite frankly disgusting. Yet, the gullible still don't bother checking the validity and the mail, complete with photo attachments still gets circulated.
Well, as usual, surprise surprise, the photos of course, are not real and I can tell you they are in fact stills from the television drama LOST. The woman seated on the left of the photo is Kate (Evangaline Lilly) siting next to U.S. marshal Edward Mars (Fredric Lane) who was critically injured and dies in the third episode, and to prove it;
Firstly, here we have the email attached photo:

Now, a clip I personally captured from the TV show in question, LOST:
Oh look! They're almost exactly the same, except the ABC channel logo on the bottom right of the image! What a surprise! (Dur)!
So, once again, PLEASE validate emails before making a complete fool of yourself and sending them off to all your friends and family!

MSN Spam Messages
Ive been receiving quite a few spam messages from friends on my MSN (Windows Live Messenger) contact list lately which are totally out of context and certainly not sent by them. In fact, they generally have no idea that their MSN is suddenly sending out freak messages to everyone on their contact list, so how can this be?
Well, simply because they've given out their MSN login and password on some malicious website claiming to let you know who on your MSN list has blocked you, or similar. This is called 'Phishing' and is also common in emails that request your bank or Paypal details.
The solution is even more simple:
If you have been duped and suddenly find out your friends are receiving messages containing links to porn sites or dodgy slimming aids, please change your MSN password, this will instantly solve the problem. Furthermore, in future, NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR MSN PASSWORD TO ANYONE OR ANY WEBSITE!

Blockdelete.com : A fine example and widely recognised phishing scam.

IT Knowledge Base
I've decided to utilize this blog to create a knowledge base for certain IT and Internet related subjects, as it seems I spend endless hours answering questions and getting calls from people always seeking help.
This also moves on nicely from my previous post regarding email scams and hoaxes, if you haven''t already had a browse through, please do so as it's now been reported that 97% of all emails comprise of crappy advertising or scams and a lot of this 'junk' comes from stupid email forwards, so kindly take note!
